Where Andy’s Started
Andy’s Frozen Custard has always been fanatical about frozen custard, serving it with pride since March 19, 1986. That’s when John and Carol Kuntz embarked on a new frozen custard endeavor in Osage Beach, Missouri. Their rich and creamy frozen custard quickly became a legend at Lake of the Ozarks, and soon took nearby Springfield, Missouri, by storm.
The original Springfield location is where their son Andy, and his wife Dana, learned the business from the ground up. During the long hours Andy and Dana put in, they never let up on what mattered most: a product worth being proud of, and service that made people want to come back. That kind of care is what turned a local favorite into something much bigger.
Now at 189+ locations across more than a dozen states, the approach hasn’t budged an inch. Andy’s continues to make delicious frozen custard fresh, every hour, and to hire people who genuinely love serving it.

First Store Opens, Osage Beach MO
The Andy’s Frozen Custard tradition started in Osage Beach, Missouri when John and Carol Kuntz embarked on a new frozen custard endeavor after trying frozen custard in Wisconsin. They sought the mentorship of Leon and Doris Schneider, who had owned Leon's Frozen Custard in Mikwaukee since 1942; Leon provided much of the knowledge and guidance needed to open their own store. The shop was named after their son Andy.
